The Delight of The Gathering

My heart is still caught up in the music of the night
The irresistible laughter of close friends
The melodic invitation of whimsy
The contagious joy of the gathering
The delight that had us dance the evening away with abandon
The pure bliss of being together, being one, being united in celebration.

Joy.
A word that can barely contain its meaning.
and holds depths scarcely reached.
Within are waters of the deepest satisfaction
and purest delight.
A sampling of heaven.
A taste of Jesus.

Words simply lend no help
in expressing the depths that flow from my heart
The exquisite tenderness of the fellowship
The delectable sweetness of the sodality.
The ache I feel upon the parting
The rising hope I feel
when I think of what it shall be
at the great gathering.

What a day it shall be
When Jesus Himself is our celebration.
What joy
What elation
What ecstasy
What rapture

This is my meager pursuit
to describe the indescribable and put into words the ineffable.
Every heart aches for the companionship of the gathering
for the intimacy of the kindred.
Every heart was created
to be known
and to be loved;
to know
and to love;
for rivers of laughter and delight
to flow from eyes that meet yours.

Can you hear the sound?
Voices mingling with those
that share in the joy of the each other’s existence.
Can you see Jesus?
Laughing with those who love Him.
embracing everyone who comes to Him.
dancing into eternity with His beloved.
He shall throw a party like nothing else.
Pure delight shall spill from every soul.
And we shall say, at long last

“We are finally home.”
