Hevel, Hevel, Life is Hevel.

Hevel, Hevel.
Life is Hevel.
No, not meaningless... the English translation of the word Hevel does not quite grasp its meaning. Hevel means a vapor, a smoke, a wisp that is here but a moment and gone forever. Life is not meaningless, it is however, Hevel.

A comfort to the tormented soul.
A console to the heart that grapples with the bitterness and cruelty of life.
A relief to the child who walks to school in threadbare clothes.
A respite to the beggar on the street.

Everything is Hevel.
Here now, gone tomorrow.
This too, shall pass.

The good, and the bad.
The only thing that matters then, is to love God and love people.

Finite

1000 months
4600 weeks
32000 days

These numbers represent the extent of the time given to us... that's if we live till 90!
Most people don't live that long, and if they do, its in a nursing home, hoping to die.

So what shall we do with the few months, few weeks, few days given us?
What shall we do with our time, when the only thing that is guaranteed us is the second that we are breathing and nothing more?

There are billions of weeks lived upon the earth, and we have been given a mere 4600 of them... if that. What shall do with it? Our time is finite, and looking at these numbers, even more finite than what I realized.

Who You Are

It is not about what you accomplish in this life; it is about who you are.

Who. you. are.
Think about it.
Your successes and accolades do not matter one bit.
It is who you are.

Work on yourself,
Everything else will follow.

Connect

Connected.
Like never before.
The world is connected in beautiful ways.

Everyone can be known.
It takes but a moment.
To reach out.
to Love.
Pause.
to Smile.
Listen.

So It Is

Meaningless.
Everything under the sun is meaningless.
Life a blip in all eternity.
Do what makes you happy.
to no purpose.
Success is an illusion,
Happiness a shadow,
Pride a trap.
The wisest man that ever walked the earth concluded
life is meaningless without Jesus.
And so it is.

My Love and Delight

My heart reels with delight.
My husband is God's perfect gift to me.
His kisses send me sky-high.
His embrace is home.
His love is sacrificial.
His steadfast encouragement, undeserved.

I find myself contemplating... how do I do my part in building my marriage upon a rock? A marriage that shines like a beacon for the generations after us, a marriage that exemplifies the love of Jesus?

How do I love my husband with all my heart, how do we keep this love burning, like diamonds in the sky?

6 months.

It's been 6 months, and I love Jake ever more with each passing day. He makes my heart come alive with sheer joy. His smile, his eyes, his arms, his love. The way he loves me, through the good and hard days. Through the sleepless nights and blissful ones. His heart is my delight, and I do believe God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought us together. The delight Jesus had in bringing us together is more than my mind can handle.

His kisses are my joy.
His love my treasure.
His laughter my delectation.
And in living life with him I have no greater joy.

Let Us Repent

When a nation turns its face from morality
it stares full on at its decline.

America is one of the greatest experiments history has ever known.
There shall not be another like it.
Yet, a mere 250 years into its making, our fledgling nation seems to insist upon seeing its fall before reaching the fullness of its glorious God-intended potential.
We have aspired to cut off the wings that gave us flight.
Our haughtiness has given us the illusion that we are indomitable.
That we have no need for the God our forefathers founded this nation upon.
We have removed prayer from our schools
even the pledge of allegiance,
scorned the works of our founding fathers
and tried to remove all morality upon which a nation finds blessing.

Repent! Before it is too late
while there is still time.
Let us return to the ancient paths
of honesty, integrity, morality, justice, and the common sense,
that established our nation as a world power against the face of all odds.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

To See More Clearly

As I study the beautiful ebbs and flow of history, I think I am beginning to find that one must look more closely into the past to see more clearly into the future.

What one would not give to look into things yet to be? Yet the future which we so greatly long to see is determined by our own actions, or lack thereof.
