Brokenness
Lays on parched ground.
As I stumble, seek, search
For that which I have sought my whole life.
Why oh passion, have you perished?
When oh drive, did you drive away?
Where oh ardor, do you now abide?
The hunger that once burned
a broken ember.
Desperate, I hunt,
unsighted, parched, a shell of what could be,
what should be.
The light from which I come
the home to which I belong
the fire within which I was forged
beckon to the depths of my heart.
Reverberations of a voice
cry
of sacrifice spilled upon a tree
by a man
who gave his life to save me.
Calloused to eternity
the unfixed digs its fangs,
into the lies, hatred and bitterness
planted within my heart.
Grasps
of the life I was meant to live
the person I was meant to be
like chasing rays forgotten,
glimpses of life beckon.
I have not the strength
to take the first step.
Here I lay
imploring
for life to flood my vision,
rain to wash the scales,
Lays on parched ground.
As I stumble, seek, search
For that which I have sought my whole life.
Why oh passion, have you perished?
When oh drive, did you drive away?
Where oh ardor, do you now abide?
The hunger that once burned
a broken ember.
Desperate, I hunt,
unsighted, parched, a shell of what could be,
what should be.
The light from which I come
the home to which I belong
the fire within which I was forged
beckon to the depths of my heart.
Reverberations of a voice
cry
of sacrifice spilled upon a tree
by a man
who gave his life to save me.
Calloused to eternity
the unfixed digs its fangs,
into the lies, hatred and bitterness
planted within my heart.
Grasps
of the life I was meant to live
the person I was meant to be
like chasing rays forgotten,
glimpses of life beckon.
I have not the strength
to take the first step.
Here I lay
imploring
for life to flood my vision,
rain to wash the scales,
& truth to flood the canyons of my heart.
